'Something Was Weird:' Trial Starts For Woman Accused Of Concealing Remains Of 6 Infants In Storage

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 18 Apr, 2016 11:16 AM
WINNIPEG — A trial has begun for a woman accused of hiding the remains of six infants in a Winnipeg U-Haul storage locker.

Andrea Giesbrecht, who is 42, is facing charges of concealment and is being tried by judge alone.

The first witness, a U-Haul employee, testified he and several others went into the locker to take inventory in October 2014, because the bill hadn't been paid.

Ryan Pearson told court that once inside the locker, quote, "something was weird in there."

Pearson said staff opened a few containers and were overwhelmed by a foul stench.

He said the contents were "soft and mushy," which prompted employees to call police immediately.
