Shoreham Airshow Disaster Caught On Camera: Seven Killed As Fighter Jet Crashes Into Cars In Britain

Darpan News Desk IANS, 22 Aug, 2015 11:01 AM
At least seven people died after a Hawker Hunter plane crashed into several vehicles during Shoreham Airshow in Britain on Saturday, the media reported.

South East Coast Ambulance Service said all the victims died at the scene, BBC reported adding that the plane crashed on the nearby A27 in West Sussex.

Thousands of spectators watched in horror as the 1950s Hawker Hunter crashed into several cars on the A27 next to Shoreham Airshow in West Sussex this afternoon.

The pilot, named locally as former RAF Harrier jump-jet flier Andy Hill, is believed to have been pulled from the burning wreckage at just after 1.20pm and is now fighting for his life in hospital.

South East Coast Ambulance Service confirmed that seven people died in the crash, 14 were injured and one person has been left with life-threatening injuries.

Eyewitnesses said the plane was performing a loop but did not complete the manoeuvre and crashed.

Stephen Jones, who saw the crash, said: "The aeroplane involved is a Hawker Hunter T mark 7. And he'd just begun his flying display.

"He'd gone up into a loop and as he was coming out of the loop I just thought, you're too low, you're too low, pull up.

"And he flew straight into the ground either on or very close to the A27, which runs past the airport."
