ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is acknowledging the marriage of her 25-year-old daughter, Bristol, to Medal of Honor winner Dakota Meyer.
The 2008 GOP vice-presidential candidate posted a short message Thursday on Facebook, noting the pair's "future is as bright as Alaska's midnight sun."
Palin didn't directly mention the marriage, but included a link to an "Entertainment Tonight" online story published Wednesday announcing the marriage. The Palin family's attorney has noted the exclusivity of the story and said he was not free to discuss the matter until Thursday evening.
Meyer, the father of Bristol Palin's second child, was previously engaged to her, and the wedding was abruptly called off a week before it was set to have been held last year. In January, Meyer filed a lawsuit against her, seeking joint custody of their child, Sailor Grace, who was born Dec. 23.
Bristol Palin had her first child in December 2008 with former fiance Levi Johnston. The two never married.
