Pakistan army chief Gen. Raheel Sharif Saturday said resolving Kashmir issue is pertinent for long-term peace in the region, and he wants regional stability based on equality and mutual respect, Geo News reported.
Addressing a passing-out parade held at Pakistan Military Academy in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province's Kakul town, he also said the armed forces were fully capable of responding to any external threat and that they were not intimidated by any troubles.
He said that permanent regional peace is dependent on solving Kashmir issue.
Gen. Sharif also wished that the new political set up in neighbouring Afghanistan would bring peace and stability for its masses, and expressed his resolve that Pakistan Army will fully cooperate with Afghan security forces.
