NANAIMO, B.C. — Police have arrested a man believed to be responsible for a number of break-ins and thefts on Vancouver Island.
Nanaimo RCMP Sgt. Sheryl Armstrong says Parksville, Courtenay and Nanaimo police have received a number of reports over the last three months about break and enters where tools, bikes, laptops and other electronics were stolen.
A suspect in the crime wave was arrested Wednesday, and police searched a home where they believed stolen items were being stored.
Armstrong says officers found a number of stolen items, including a 50-inch television, a wireless speaker system and various tools, believed to be worth about $15,000.
A 44-year-old Nanaimo man is in custody, and is expected to be officially charged when he appears in court on Tuesday.
Police have recommended charges of break and enter, possession of house breaking instruments and possession of stolen property.
