Paris attacks: France to boost security

Darpan News Desk IANS, 12 Jan, 2015 09:34 AM
The French government Monday decided to boost security after last week's deadly attacks in Paris, media reported.

The decision was taken after the cabinet held a crisis meeting on security, BBC reported.

France is mobilising 10,000 troops to tighten security and will deploy thousands of police personnel to protect Jewish schools.

“Troops will be in place from Tuesday in the most sensitive areas,” said Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian.

Seventeen people were killed in Paris last week in attacks at satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, on a police officer, and at a kosher supermarket.

On Sunday, an estimated 3.7 million people turned out to show solidarity with the victims, including 1.5 million people in Paris.

About 40 world leaders joined the start of the Paris march, linking arms in an act of solidarity.
