Pakistan Politician's Son Dies Due To 'Excessive Use Of Steroids'

IANS, 06 Oct, 2016 11:46 AM
A prominent Pakistani politician's son, who was into body-building, has died apparently due to 'excessive use of steroids'.

Ali, 26, the son of Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) Chairman and Pakistan Mulsim League-Nawaz leader Siddiqul Farooq, died on tuesday at his home.

ETPB looks after minority holy places in Pakistan.

Mr Farooq, the leader of Pakistan Mulsim League-Nawaz, told reporters he was jogging when a security guard told him that his son Ali was not responding to repeated knocks on his room door at his residence in Lahore.

He said he and his employees broke the door lock and found Ali unconscious.

He was rushed to the Services Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

Quoting doctors, Mr Farooq said his son might have died due to a cardiac arrest three to four hours before he was found unconscious.

He said Ali was taking steroids as he was into body- building that might have been a cause of death.

A few months ago the country has lost four of its elite bodybuilders allegedly due to consumption of illegal steroids.

Opting for short-cut to success, the bodybuilders, including two medalists in the South Asian Bodybuilding Championship (SABC), have died reportedly due to excessive use of these drugs.

According to reports, steroids and body-enhancing drugs land up in Pakistan illegally from Dubai and Iran, some of which are even past their expiry dates.
