New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern Pays For Groceries Of Mother Who Forgot Her Wallet

Darpan News Desk IANS, 04 Apr, 2019 07:15 PM

New Zealands Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern paid for a mother-of-twos grocery bill at a supermarket after the woman forgot her purse at home.

Ardern, whose compassionate response to the Christchurch mosque shootings last month was praised around the world, confirmed making the payment and said during a press conference on Thursday that she paid for the woman's shopping "because she was a mother".

"Just when you think Jacinda Ardern couldn't get any more lovely, low key and authentic.... she goes and pays for your groceries at the supermarket, because you've got your shopping, have two kids with you and are about to put it all back as you forgot your wallet

In the post, the woman also said she tried to explain to her children how the Prime Minister had just bought their groceries.

"All they cared about was how silly mummy was forgetting her wallet. Totally lost on them," she was quoted as saying by stuff.co.nz.

The woman's friend, Helen Burness, took to Twitter to reveal the Prime Minister's good deed.

"Like we didn't love her enough, Jacinda Ardern paid for my friends' shopping in the supermarket the other day when she had forgotten her purse and had two screaming kids in tow."
