  • Nepal's first female president sworn in

Kathmandu: Newly-elected President Bidhya Devi Bhandari was sworn in on Thursday as the first female president of Nepal.

Bhandari was administered the oaths of office and secrecy by Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha at the presidential palace, Xinhua news agency reported.

Bhandari was elected to the post on Wednesday after she clinched an over-whelming victory in the presidential poll defeating Nepali Congress candidate Kul Bahadur Gurung.
