Mexico and the US state of California agreed Thursday to build a new vehicle border crossing to help boost trade, Mexican authorities said.
Vice Minister Raul Murrieta Cummings and the secretary of the California Transportation Agency, Brian P. Kelly, signed a memorandum of understanding to build and put into operation the Otay II-Otay Mesa East International Border Crossing, Xinhua quoted Mexico's Communications and Transportation Ministry as saying.
The objective is to "spur trade exchange between Mexico and the state of California", the minister added.
