Man Reportedly From Toronto To Appear In L.A. Court In Connection With Girlfriend's Death

The Canadian Press, 31 May, 2016 11:42 AM
LOS ANGELES — A man reportedly from Toronto will appear in a Los Angeles court today to face charges in the murder of a 30-year-old woman.

Police with the Los Angeles sheriff's department say Blake Leibel, 35, was arrested last Thursday in the death of his 30-year-old girlfriend Iana Kasian, who was the mother of his child.

Police say that Kasian was reported missing, and when they searched the home that she shared with Leibel, they found her body in the bedroom with what looked like blunt force trauma to her head.

They say they found a male suspect elsewhere in the home and arrested him.

The National Post reports that Leibel is the son of Toronto-area businessman Lorne Leibel, the owner of Touchstone Homes.

Representatives from Touchstone Homes and Global Affairs declined to confirm the relationship between the suspect and the elder Leibel. The younger Leibel's lawyer didn't respond when contacted by phone and email.
