Italian Parents Ordered To Maintain Gay 18-Year-Old Son

Darpan News Desk IANS, 06 Oct, 2017 04:22 PM
An Italian court on Friday ordered a couple in Naples to pay monthly maintenance to their homosexual son who was thrown out of the family home last month when he turned 18.

The court said the youth, Francesco, described as "openly gay" should be maintained by his parents "because he had not yet attained economic independence".

But the judge did not rule on a request for contact between Francesco and his younger sister made to the court by his lawyer, Salvatore Simioli, from Italy's Archigay association.

Francesco's mother, who is separated from his father, forbade Francesco from seeing his sister on the grounds that such meetings were not good for her.

"We will keep looking out for these guys (Francesco and his boyfriend) and for all victims of injustice and discrimination," the president of Archigay Naples, Antonello Sannino, said in a statement after Friday's ruling.

"We hope Naples city council, the Campania Region and local authorities will keep their promise to open a shelter in Naples for LGBT victims of discrimination and hatred," Sannino added.
