Indian Takeaway Owner To Face Trial For Manslaughter Over Man's Peanut Death In Britain

Darpan News Desk IANS, 08 Sep, 2015 11:08 AM
An Indian restaurant owner has been charged with manslaughter after a customer died of an allergic reaction to peanuts in the curry at his restaurant in January 2014, the media reported.

Mohammed Zaman is accused of manslaughter for the death of Paul Wilson at his "Indian Garden" restaurant in Easingwold, North Yorkshire, in January 2014, The Guardian reported on Monday.

Zaman has been charged with gross negligence and perverting the course of justice by forging a food safety training certificate.

He was held guilty for the food safety offences and an immigration offence relating to the employee who served the contaminated meal.

Zaman was granted bail after the court was told that a number of expert witnesses in pathology, food hygiene, clinical medicine and accountancy would be needed in the case.

He will face trial next year on April 25.
