Indian Man Shivraj Singh Dabi Taken Off FBI's Most Wanted List

The Canadian Press, 20 Aug, 2015 12:59 PM
Shivraj Singh Dabi, an Indian national, has said that he has been taken off FBI's Most Wanted list.

Dabi, based in Madhya Pradesh, said in a statement that an American court had granted permission to remove the charge of "Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution" and added that this order makes it clear that he is no longer on the FBI wanted list.

Dabi, however, admitted that a case is pending against him in Sacramento County Court in California and he is "looking forward to conclude the case by following appropriate legal process."

In March this year, an IANS story had given details about him being put on the FBI wanted list.

The FBI had declared Dabi a cyber-fugitive in 2008. It said Dabi had fled from Sacramento County after he was found guilty of charges relating to accessing the computers of his previous employer and deleting and purposely damaging the data on these computers, which was a felony in the US.

"As soon as this news came to my knowledge, I contacted the U.S. Embassy, New Delhi and expressed my intention to provide full cooperation in respect of warrant issued against me by the FBI", Dabi said in the statement. A court in Sacramento allowed recall of the FBI warrant on June 16 this year.

Dabi was working as a consultant in IT department with the state government in Bhopal, and his contract was not renewed after his name was put on the FBI wanted list.
