Homeless Man, 33, Admits Killing Indian-Origin Man Baljit Singh In Britain

IANS, 08 Jul, 2015 11:48 AM
A homeless man due to stand trial for the murder of a 50-year-old Indian-origin man last December has admitted to the crime, a media report said on Wednesday.

Baljit Singh disappeared on December 23 when he left his Birmingham home to collect a birthday cake for his son. His body was found on January 1 at a property on Beeches Road, in Rowley Regis, about 10 km from his home.

The post-mortem examination found that Singh died from head injuries and a knife wound to his neck.

Millership, 33, was arrested on December 31 on suspicion of stealing Singh’s car and was later charged with murder, Birmingham Mail reported.

Although the specific basis of Millership's guilty plea was not read to the court, his lawyer quoted a document in which he apologised to the victim’s family.

He said he was "truly sorry for the death of Baljit Singh and the anguish that this has caused his family, particularly his wife and son".

The next hearing in the case will take place at the Wolverhampton crown court next week.
