High-Risk Kamloops Police Operation Ends With 13 Charges Laid

Darpan News Desk, 30 Oct, 2017 12:32 PM
KAMLOOPS, B.C. — Thirteen charges have been laid against a British Columbia man following an 18-hour standoff in Kamloops, B.C.

Staff Sgt. Simon Pillay says charges against Shane Caron include four counts of attempted murder after police say shots were fired at four RCMP officers during the incident that began Friday.

Pillay says other charges range from using a firearm while committing an assault to discharging a firearm to prevent arrest.

Caron was arrested early Saturday morning and was due to make his first court appearance in Kamloops on Monday.

A report of an assault at a Kamloops home on Friday led to a series of events that ended with shots fired and a lengthy standoff at the G and M Trailer Park.

Pillay says two officers were slightly hurt and more charges are expected as the investigation continues.
