Going Abroad On A Short Visit, Tweets Rahul Gandhi

Darpan News Desk IANS, 20 Jun, 2016 11:04 AM
Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi today said he is going abroad for a "few days", but did not specify the country he is heading for.

Mr Gandhi celebrated his 46th birthday yesterday amid speculation that he could be elevated as the party chief.

The Congress Vice Presidents' 56-day mysterious sabbatical last year had created controversy in political circles with the ruling BJP making his absence in the midst of Budget Session of Parliament an issue.

Party leaders have time and again said that Mr Gandhi, who was made the party Vice President in January 2013 at the Jaipur 'Chintan Shivir,' will be elevated to party chief.
