Gangster Rajat Malhotra AKA Karan Masti Flees From Police Custody In Punjab

IANS, 30 Jan, 2018 01:32 PM

Just a couple of days after the Punjab Police got a pat for killing two notorious gangsters, the force had to face embarrassment on Monday when a gangster escaped from its custody from the court complex in Amritsar.

Rajat Malhotra, also known as Karan Masti, gave a slip to the police team accompanying him and escaped from their custody in the court complex in Amritsar.

Police officials said that Malhotra was in handcuffs and was being taken to the third floor of the district court complex building, where he was to be produced, when he freed his hands and escaped. The police team accompanying him tried to chase him but could not nab him.

He is a known gangster in police records, wanted for murder and robberies, who was arrested in October last year.

The embarrassing incident came as a blow to the Punjab Police, which is being appreciated for the killing of notorious gangsters Vicky Gounder and Prema Lahoria.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jagmohan Singh rushed to the court complex following Malhotra's daring escape. Singh said that a manhunt has been launched to nab him.

Amritsar is around 250 km from here.
