  • British Woman Racially Abused Me In Train: Sikh Youth
British police have launched a probe after a 25-year-old Sikh man reported that he was racially abused by a woman on board a train last month, media said.

According to British Transport Police, the incident happened on the 9.23 p.m. train from York to Leeds on August 1 but had only recently been reported by the man whose identity was not revealed, York Press online reported on Thursday.

"The man, a 25-year-old Sikh from York, who was wearing a turban at the time, was walking through the carriage when a woman racially abused him," investigating officer PC Nick Storey was quoted as saying.

The woman was described in her early 40s with blond hair.

"We take all reports of verbal racial abuse on trains and at stations extremely seriously, and will investigate every incident reported to us," Nick Storey added.
