Bangladeshi Girl's Head Shaved For Failing To Wear Headscarf

Darpan News Desk IANS, 31 Mar, 2017 11:56 AM
A Bangladeshi schoolgirl's head teacher reported her family to police in Italy when the teen's mother allegedly shaved off her hair after she refused to wear the Islamic headscarf, local daily Il Resto del Carlino reported on Friday.

The 14-year-old girl told police her mother had frequently insulted and scolded her for defying her immigrant parents' orders not to take off her headscarf on her way to school in the city of Bologna and also forbade her and her sisters from talking to boys or even to female friends, the paper said.

The teen told police that she no longer wished to live with her family due to their strictures and feared they would send her to Bangladesh for an arranged marriage.
