  • Another Selfie Death: Youth Dies While Clicking Photos At Hyderabad Zoo
A youth died falling into an artificial lake while clicking photos in Nehru Zoological Park here on Tuesday, police said.

Manjeet Kumar, 16, who was on picnic with his family members, slipped into the water body near butterfly park in the zoo.

Family members alleged that Manjeet died of electrocution as a live wire was let into the lake. Police, however, said the cause of death will only be known after the autopsy.

A police officer said the teenager was clicking pictures after climbing onto a rock in an area which is barred for the visitors. According to one version, he was taking a selfie when he fell.

Manjeet, whose family originally hails from Bihar but living in Puranapul area in the city, was on picnic with his family members, two days after finishing his class 10 exams.

His sister said they cried for help but the zoo security and police did not come to his rescue immediately.

She said the ambulance reached the spot very late and he died on the way to the hospital.

The body was taken to the government-run Osmania Hospital for autopsy.
