36 MH17 victims still unidentified

Darpan News Desk IANS, 04 Oct, 2014 09:06 AM
The Dutch security ministry said that 36 victims of the total of 298 passengers and crew members onboard the ill-fated Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 in eastern Ukraine are yet to be identified.

Among the 11 identified victims this week, eight people were Dutch nationals, Xinhua reported.

At the request of the embassies of the countries concerned, the nationalities of the non-Dutch victims were not disclosed.

In the July 17 crash, all the 298 people aboard the MH17 were killed when the aircraft was shot down in eastern Ukraine.

On July 23, remains and bodies of the victims were flown to Eindhoven airport in the Netherlands for identification.

On Aug 5, the Netherlands stopped the recovery and repatriation mission near the crash site in eastern Ukraine due to the deteriorating security situation in the area.
