35 Killed In Beirut Suicide Bombings

Darpan News Desk IANS, 12 Nov, 2015 12:50 PM
At least 35 people were killed and over 180 others injured in two suicide bombings that rocked the Burj el-Barajneh region here in Lebanon on Thursday, Xinhua reported.

"A suicide bomber blew himself up near a small snack bar on the main street of Burj el-Barajneh and after seven minutes, another bomber blew himself up near the main mosque of the region," a security source told Xinhua.

The security forces have cordoned off the areas and the civil defence teams are evacuating the injured to nearby hospitals, the source added.

The southern suburbs of Beirut are considered the stronghold of Hezbollah, which is fighting in Syria alongside the forces of President Bashar al-Assad against Islamic fundamentalists.
