17 arrested for Wagah suicide attack

    Police, with the assistance of intelligence agencies, Friday arrested 17 suspects in connection with the suicide attack at the border with India in Pakistani Punjab.
     
    At least 59 people were killed and over 120 injured when a young suicide bomber wearing a suicide vest blew himself up not far from the Wagah border Nov 2.
     
    The arrests were made during a joint search operation in the adjacent areas of Lahore, the Nation reported.
     
    According to officials, more arrests are expected in the coming days.
     
    Police and law enforcement agencies are carrying out coordinated operations.
     
    On Tuesday, the Punjab government had formed a joint investigation team comprising representatives of Chenab Rangers, Inter-Services Intelligence, Counter Terrorism Department, Special Branch and Punjab Police.
