WATCH: South African Rugby Sevens Team Stops To Help Change Motorist's Tire

Darpan News Desk, 13 Mar, 2017 01:47 PM
VANCOUVER — A couple of Vancouver motorists got some unexpected help this weekend.

Three videos shared on the South African rugby team's official Facebook page show some of its players stopping to help change a tire on a stranger's car before heading to B.C. Place Stadium for the Canada Sevens tournament on Saturday.

The videos show teammates working together to change the front right tire on a white car while the two women look on.

"We always want to do things on the field right, but it also starts off the field," South Africa's Philip Snyman said after his country's 36-7 victory over Canada on Sunday. "That's exactly what our team stands for. Our culture means touching people's lives."

The Blitzboks' jerseys sport the quote "Pioneers of Greatness," something Snyman says he hopes their gesture showed.

"It doesn't matter if it's your own country or your own family, we want to put a smile on everybody's faces and that makes us happy," he said. "That goes to the team and put a smile on our faces."

While there was plenty of help available, Snyman said he probably could have handled the situation on his own.

"I grew up on a farm so I changed a lot of tires," he said with a laugh. "That helped a bit I think."
