KAMLOOPS, B.C. — A serious single-vehicle crash has closed the southbound lanes of the Coquihalla Highway about 40 kilometres south of Kamloops, B.C.

Emergency officials say they were called out just before 6 a.m. Two people are dead and one person was taken to hospital following a crash.

They say a southbound vehicle hit a deer and veered off the road near the Logan Lake turnoff, tumbling down a 10-metre embankment.

Drive BC says the southbound lanes of the highway are expected to remain closed until at least noon.

A detour is available through Logan Lake, then south to Merritt where drivers can rejoin the Coquihalla. (CFJC)
