Teen Boy Charged With Burning Girl's Hair On Toronto Transit Bus

The Canadian Press, 05 Apr, 2016 12:38 PM
TORONTO — A 13-year-old boy is facing criminal charges after allegedly burning the hair of a young passenger on a public transit bus in Toronto.

Toronto police say the alleged incident took place on March 30 when a teenage girl smelled something burning while on the bus.

Police say the girl felt the back of her head and some of her hair fell into her hand.

They say she then realized someone behind her had set fire to her hair.

When she confronted the boy sitting behind her, police allege he threatened to hurt her, then got off the bus and fled the area.

The girl was not seriously injured.

The boy, whose name cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is now charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats and failing to comply with recognizance.
