DELTA, B.C. — Delta Police say a Vancouver man was killed Saturday evening when his truck collided with a train.
They say the accident occurred at the Churchill Railway Crossing around 3:20 p.m., and the man who was in his 40s was found dead at the scene.
Spokeswoman Cris Leykauf says the crash scene was complex because the truck was pushed a significant way down the track by the train, and police were on the scene for nearly 12 hours.
She says there is no clear indication of what caused the crash.
CN Rail spokesman Jonathan Abecassis says the crossing is equipped with active warning devices, which were working at the time of the incident.
He says CN police are assisting the local authorities with the ongoing investigation.
