A 32-year-old Chinese photographer took up the daunting task and documented the six-month long process on social media. To make it easier, he roped in his family for getting back in shape.

Posting the pictures on social media, Chinese photographer, Ding Guoliang, 31, from Xiamen, in Southeast China's Fujian Province, charted his own weight loss transformation by posting pictures of him posing alongside his family during a six month period.

The gruelling journey started on March 10, 2017, when Jesse’s parents moved in with him to help his wife during pregnancy and the initial stages of motherhood. Jesse noticed his father, Youwang Ding’s, beer belly - a result of alcoholism, depression and ill health - and encouraged him to join him.

Photos of the father and son duo show their amazing half-year transformation.

In photos taken before they started exercising, both men carried around heavy bellies. But after getting into the habit of exercising, both can now show off six-pack abs.

Not only did the two men lose weight, they also managed to inspire both their wives to get fit as well.

The family’s diet was simple - eating controlled portions of food and cutting out fat and sugar. “We didn’t follow a specific exercise routine, but stuck to whatever we liked.”

The family may have competed the 6-month goal, but they plan to maintain the healthy lifestyle.
