A group of Muslim men from Mumbra near Mumbai had carried out the last rites of a Hindu man who died in Kausa area of the town.
The eight men took the initiative of preparing for the funeral of Waman Kadam, 65, after they realized that no one was around to help except for his wife.
They purchased necessary items for the ritual like bamboo, rope, earthen pots, incense sticks as well as cloth and a thatched mat.
The men then carried his body to the crematorium at around 3 am and performed the last rites.
Their gesture did not go unnoticed, with Mumbra-Kalwa lawmaker Jitendra Awhad saluting them in a Facebook post. They were also lauded by residents of Muslim dominated Mumbra.
