If Looks Could Kill, Trump Won't Be Alive: People Can't Get Over Greta Thunberg's Death Stare To US President

Darpan News Desk IANS, 25 Sep, 2019 08:03 PM

Donald Trump recently tweeted on teen climate crusader Greta Thunberg’s recent speech, ‘How dare you?’ provoked reactions on social media on Tuesday alongside a video in which she is seen glaring at Trump as he walked past her at the UN in New York.

In the video, Greta Thunberg is seen fixing President Trump with an icy stare as he walks in for a meeting on religious freedom, her mouth set in a frown. Climate activist Greta Thunberg is held back by a security officer as US President Donald Trump arrives at the UN climate summit.

Earlier that day, the President had snubbed a climate summit. He briefly sat when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was speaking.

Thunberg had made an emotional statement on a panel at the summit, in which she had repeatedly asked world leaders: "How dare you?"

This morning, President Trump posted a video of the powerful speech, in which she talked about "people suffering, people dying, entire ecosystems collapsing" and the fear of "mass extinction".

"She seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future. So nice to see!" Trump tweeted with the video.

And as a response to this jab, Thuberg changed her Twitter biography to read: "A very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future.

"When your troll president gets out-trolled," tweeted American businessman and columnist Jeff Yang, alongside an image of Thunberg's new bio.

Her profile had read: “16 year old climate activist with Asperger’s”.

Thunberg has previously spoken about her Asperger’s syndrome diagnosis after she was criticized over the condition, saying it makes her “different”, but that she considers it a “superpower”.

On Friday, millions of young people all over the world joined Thunberg in a climate strike that she led from New York. In her speech yesterday, the 16-year-old from Sweden, who travelled for two-weeks in a solar-powered boat to reach the US, berated world leaders gathered at the UN for failing to deliver on actions to fight the effects of climate change.

On his tweet, many had adverse comments. "Donald Trump picking on an innocent young girl is absolutely disgusting," tweeted one user. "The President of the United States making a sarcastic, snide comment to make fun of a 16-year-old passionate about fighting climate change is a new low for Trump. Disgusting," tweeted another.
