Darpan My Journey is all about showcasing the stories of South Asian Canadians who have contributed greatly to Canadian society. Stay tuned for the launch of the very first Darpan My Journey on April 8th, 2024.
The sports component encompasses all sports run by the organization and in partnership with large scale sports organizations. The education component comprises educational presentations on issues affecting the community - presentations on bullying, racism, women’s empowerment, and drug and gang abuse.
Since 2005, the NGO Maitri has worked with over 45,000 individuals on the issues of social and health inequities and public health concerns through education, community outreach, networking, and legal advocacy.
High profile politicians MLA Jinny Sims with Surrey Panorama and MP for Surrey-Newton Sukh Dhaliwal also attended the event. Singer Baljit Kainth entertained the audience by singing old classics and a high energy Bhangra dancers set the stage on fire.
