Canadians Take 3,300-kilometre Road Trip To Kentucky In Fried Chicken Pilgrimage

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 06 Apr, 2015 12:51 PM
CORBIN, Ky. — A road trip of more than 3,300 kilometres through two provinces and fives U.S. states might seem like a long way for some Canadians to go for fried chicken.

But two men who took their sons on a journey from Montreal to the original home of Kentucky Fried Chicken say it's a trip they'll never forget.

The Times-Tribune (http://bit.ly/1CKSADI ) in Kentucky reports this was the third trip to the Harland Sanders Cafe and Museum for Brian Lutfy, one of the fathers who piled the four sons into a van for the 34-hour pilgrimage from Montreal.

His tales of earlier visits inspired the trip.

The friends left on Thursday, travelling to Col. Sanders' birthplace and burial place before arriving at the Corbin restaurant Saturday afternoon.

For three of the sons, it was the first time they had tasted KFC.

Lutfy's son Jesse said it was "delicious!"

The Times-Tribune said the journey took the group into Ontario and the states of New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky and that they were away from home for five days.
