Bhangra In The Snow: Fort St. John Students Dance To Bhangra Tunes And Win Internet

Darpan News Desk IANS, 10 Dec, 2016 02:29 PM
Students at Northern Lights College in Fort St. John showcase their sub-zero dancing skills in a new video posted online.

The clip, posted to Facebook and Twitter, shows 13 dancers decked out in Santa hats taking part in the Indian dance style that has spread around the world.

Cleo Baker who works in student support with Northern Lights College says they wanted to help spread some joy. She has been with the dance group since it started.

“"We had students Bhangra-ing from Brazil, Japan. We just had a lot of fun. We weren’t expecting this big of an impact. We were really hoping it would bring some joy around and get people to realize you can have a lot of fun in the north but we had no idea it would be this popular. People say this makes them smile and they watch it over and over.”

Baker herself is one of the dancers, learning the moves from an Indian student who has been holding dance classes since September.
