2-Month-Old Australia-Born Baby To Celebrate Diwali In India, Thanks To Sushma Swaraj

    A two-month-old baby, having Australian citizenship and in New Delhi on a short term e-visa with her Indian mother, was on Thursday allowed to extend her stay following intervention by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj so that she can "celebrate Diwali with her family".
     
    The baby's mother Aditi Chandak, who holds an Indian passport, had appealed to Ms Swaraj to extend the baby's stay in India so that they could celebrate Diwali in New Delhi.
     
    The baby having an Australian passport was here on a short term e-visa.
     
    "Just two months old - her first Diwali ! Baby will celebrate Diwali with her grandparents. Please convey her my Diwali greetings," Ms Swaraj tweeted in response to the request by Ms Aditi.
     
     
    Earlier, Ms Aditi in a tweet had said, "@indianetourist still waiting to hear a positive response Pls allow my baby to extend stay by 2 wks so tht I can have Diwali with parents."
     
    She had also given details of baby's visa and also said that she had to apply for e-visa for the baby as they had to come to India urgently.
