You Are Dumber Than I Thought: Capt Amarinder Singh To Harsimrat Badal

Darpan News Desk IANS, 25 Sep, 2019 07:38 PM

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur traded barbs over Twitter on Tuesday over the state government's release of state GST refund on Langar to the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee.

Amarinder Singh, who has formerly described Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur variously as “compulsive liar”, “totally incompetent”, and “ill-informed woman”, called her dumb after the latter asked the chief minister to release "the remaining" GST refund on Langar.

The central government had recently released 1.96 crore to SGPC.

The chief minister's tweet said: "You’re even dumber than I thought @HarsimratBadal. I’ve clearly said the amount claimed was what we’ve disbursed. What kind of government did you guys run? You don’t even know that money is given against claims & that there’s a procedural time taken! Atrocious to say the least”.

This was in response to the union minister’s tweet that said: “Thank you @capt_amarinder for proving me right by finally releasing the 1st installment of Rs 1.96cr of state GST on Langar to SGPC today. BTW, total refund claim was of Rs 3.27cr. So respect the #Sikh sentiments & release the remaining amount of gurughar’s money at the earliest”.

The union minister refused to back down—in her response to Captain Amarinder Singh's tweet on Wednesday, she said: " I’m stating facts @capt_amarinder. SGPC filed claim for July-Dec 2018 GST refund in Jan’19. Claim for nxt 6 mnths given in May & Aug’19. Claim for Aug’17 to Aug’18 given. When all claims with u why u gave FIRST refund on 25/9/19? Btw Rs 1.68 cr refund STILL pending. Pl enlighten".

She also posted photos of SGPC's claim submission in the tweet.
