WATCH: Video Of Patiala Woman Beaten Up By In-Laws Over Dowry Goes Viral

    A video of a 35-year-old woman being assaulted by her brother in-law and his friends in Patiala for registering a dowry and domestic violence complaint against her in-laws is being shared on social media.

     

    The video surfaced on social media on Friday.

     

    The victim, identified as Meena Kashyap, alleged that her in-laws were harassing her and demanding Rs seven lakh as dowry

     

     

    The complaint regarding the dowry demand and violence was registered in April , 2017 in Kotwali police station.

     

    The victim alleged that she also met Punjab director general of police Suresh Arora last week, over police inaction in her complaint, who asked inspector general of police AS Rai (Patiala division) to look into the matter.

     

    She alleged that, on July 13, her brother-in-law Kamaljeet Singh along with his friends allegedly attacked her with hockey sticks after they got know about the complaint.

     
     

    The FIR has been registered against her husband Daljit Singh, his brother Kamaljeet and friend Gaurav under sections 454 (house trespass), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 506 (criminal intimidation, 120-B (criminalconspiracy), 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

     

    Kotwali station house officer (SHO) Surinder Bhalla said the police are waiting for victim’s medical reports following which the strict sections under IPC act will be added.
