WATCH: 'Rajmata' Mohinder Kaur Cremated In Patiala

    Mohinder Kaur, mother of Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, who passed away after prolonged illness at her Moti Bagh Palace residence in Patiala on Monday evening,was cremated at Shahi Samadhan, the royal crematorium, on Tuesday afternoon.

     

    Capt Amarinder lit the pyre amid teeming crowds that had converged at Shahi Smadhan for the royal matriarch’s cremation.

     

    Earlier, a procession with her body kept in a vehicle reached Shahi Samadhan. Capt Amarinder Singh, his brother Raja Malwinder Singh and others were part of the procession.

     

     

    The Antim Yatra of Rajmata started from Moti Bagh Palace at 1 pm and reached Shahi Samadhan after passing through Thikriwala Chowk, Fountain Chowk, Sheranwala Gate, Twakali Mor, Dharampura Bazar, Anar Dana Chowk, Adalat Bazar, Qila Chowk, Gur Mandi and Dal Daliya Chowk, amidst cries of `Rajmata Amar Rahe, Rajmata Amar Rahe’.

     

    Earlier, royal families from Himachal, Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir arrived at New Moti Bagh Palace here to attend the funeral.

     

    The Rajmata had passed away at 7 pm on Monday after a long illness.

     

    Amarinder and brother Malwinder Singh were seen spending time with other royal scions of Patiala.

     

     

    People reached the palace in large numbers to pay their respects to the Rajmata. Close friends of Amarinder from the Army days, including Major AP Singh, were present at the palace. Shahi Samadhan has been turned into a fortress. Heavy security has been deployed there.

     
     

    The political and other personalities present in the procession were Rana KP, Sarna brothers from Delhi, Dr Balbir Singh, Maninderjit Singh Bitta, Brahm Mohindra, Satvinder Bitty, Kaka Randeep, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, Madan Jalalpur and Raja Randhir Singh
