In a press conference here, he said his organisation, Punjab Manch, a body of intellectuals, had after long discussion and research reached this conclusion that autonomy for Punjab is the only solution.
He raised the slogan ‘Federal India, Democratic Punjab’. He said this was the only way to protect the state’s resources and taxes and ensure development.
He said he didn’t support Sikh referendum 2020. “We want autonomy for Punjab, not for one community or religion,” he said.
On Sukhpal Khaira’s removal as Leader of Opposition, Gandhi said he always demanded that the command of Punjab AAP should be in the hands of state leaders.
But he said he would not participate in Khaira’s convention as it had a different agenda. “However, I can join a third front if it is based on demanding autonomy for Punjab,” he added.
