VIDEO: Matrimonial Dispute Turns Ugly In Karnal, 3 Injured In Clash At Police Station

Darpan News Desk IANS, 04 Mar, 2019 09:04 PM

Three persons were injured in a clash between two groups who had come to settle a matrimonial dispute in Sadar Police station on Monday.

It is learnt that Usha, a resident of Rajiv Puram in the city, was married to Ram Kumar of Vikas Nagar in 2009. As per the family members, Ram Kumar wanted to divorce Usha as the couple was unable to have a child.

Usha’s brother Sonu alleged that around four-five months back, Ram Kumar asked them to take Usha to their home as he had to go abroad. “We brought her to our home, but he did not come to take her back. We tried our best to approach them, but Ram Kumar’s family took us a casually,” he added.

Sonu alleged that on February 2, some relatives of Ram Kumar came to their house and threatened them with dire consequences if Usha did not divorce Ram Kumar.

Usha’s family filed a police complaint yesterday, following which the police called both the parties today. The situation turned ugly as both groups clashed in the police station. The police took several people from both sides in custody.

The injured have been identified as Sonu, Raju and Sanjay of Rajiv Puram.

SHO Baljeet Singh said the police have filed a case against 17 persons of both the sides under Sections 107/151 of the CrPC (apprehension of breach of peace and tranquillity).
