Uttar Pradesh rape victim gets Rs.3 lakh

    A girl who was raped by a constable in Uttar Pradesh has got Rs.3 lakh monetary relief from the state government following the National Human Rights Commission's (NHRC) directive, an official said Friday.
     
    "On the recommendations of the NHRC, the Uttar Pradesh government, after initially denying to provide financial assistance to a minor victim of rape by a police constable, finally paid Rs.3 lakh as monetary relief to her," the rights body said in a statement.
     
    The incident took place Sep 5, 2012 at Janaki Nagar area in Gonda district.
