Two Afghan nationals held for sexually assaulting JNU student

IANS, 20 Jan, 2017 11:50 AM
A 21-year-old student of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) was sexually assaulted allegedly by two Afghan nationals, police said on Friday.

Police said Twaab Ahmed, 27, an event manager and his associate, Suliman Ahmadi, 31, sexually assaulted the victim on January 12 at a friend's flat in Green Park area.

"They met the victim in a pub located at Hauz Khas Village and took her to a flat on the pretext of partying with some other friend. They later offered her a sedative-laced drink and committed the crime when she became unconscious" Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Chinmoy Biswal told IANS.

"After the victim complained to police about the sexual assault, Police arrested the accused persons, Twaab and Ahmadi. They were sent to judicial custody," Biswal said.

They were living in Delhi on United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees card. Ahmed had been living in India since the last 10 years, while Ahmadi was living in India for the last two years, Biswal said.
