Tried to convince him for 2-4 days: CM Bhagwant Mann on AG's resignation

New Delhi, July 26 (IANS) Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday said he tried to convince the former Punjab Advocate General (AG) Anmol Rattan Sidhu for a couple of days to take back his resignation.
"He is a very senior lawyer and a member of our team. In the future also, we will take legal advice from him. For 2-4 days I even tried to convince him to stay but he said that he had some commitments and engagements in near future," the Punjab Chief Minister said while speaking to the media persons at the Parliament premises.
Mann further informed that the Punjab government has appointed a senior lawyer Vineet Ghai as the new Advocate General.
"We want an Advocate General to have such a team so that we are not forced to hire costly lawyers from outside. Be it Session Court, High Court or Supreme Court, the AG's team should be able to put forth the voice of the people of Punjab," the CM averred.
Anmol Rattan Sidhu resigned from his post earlier in the day. In a resignation letter to Chief Minister Mann, Sidhu said he was resigning from the post owing to personal reasons. He was appointed to the post in March this year.
After taking two 'pheras' Neetu suddenly announced that she was calling off the marriage. She said that the groom shown to her earlier, was not the one whom she was marrying. She also stated that his complexion was too dark for her liking. She left the 'mandap' and did not return even after persuasion by her family members.
At least three langars (community kitchens) and 25 Yatri tents were washed away in flash floods caused by the cloudburst. Sources said that around three dozen people are missing in this tragedy and efforts are on to locate them.
The about 70-feet tall tree uprooted naturally and fell on the students when they were playing under it. Condition of a student and a woman conductor was stated to be critical.

Mann, 48, divorced his first wife Inderpreet Kaur in 2015. He has two children from that marriage -- daughter Seerat Kaur Mann (21) and son Dilshan Singh Mann (17), who attended Mann's swearing-in ceremony on March 16. The Chief Minister made a surprise wedding announcement a day earlier. It is believed to be an arranged marriage.
Arora, who has been elected for the second consecutive time as the MLA from Sunam, expressed gratitude towards the party national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and assured that he would discharge the responsibility assigned to him with honesty and dedication.
