IANS, 13 Feb, 2015 01:24 PM
Union Tourism and Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma Friday met Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and assured support to promote the rich culture and heritage of his state.

"Amritsar is one of the twelve cities identified under the scheme 'Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive (PRASAD)' which aims at the promotion and development of pilgrimage sites," said Sharma.

He also suggested that a small film can be shown to all entering cultural and heritage places which can throw light upon the history of that particular place.

"The government is making all efforts to promote rich heritage all over the country and will support the Punjab government in their efforts to build museums and other memorials," said Sharma.

Badal, who had called on Sharma to discuss various issues about the development of cultural heritage and tourism in the state, said that his government is building a war memorial and museum in Amritsar.

"We are also developing a memorial named Jang-e-Azadi in Kartarpur district which will showcase the freedom struggle movement at large scale," said Badal.

Other projects like Bhagwan Valmik Tirath Sthal were also discussed during the meeting.
