New Delhi, Feb 2 (IANS) Delhi Police have arrested a 41-year-old woman for illegally travelling to Oman on a fake visa, an official said on Wednesday.
The accused has been identified as Noori Ibrahim, a resident of Vellore, Tamil Nadu. Her agent, Ibraheem Keethadth, a resident of Bengaluru, has also been arrested.
According to the official, on January 5, a complaint was received from Delhi airport's co-immigration officer alleging that one female passenger has arrived at the airport after being deported from Muscat.
Subsequently, a case under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code was registered at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in the national capital and investigation was taken up.
On interrogation, the passenger revealed that she procured a fake Oman visa from one the agents, Ibraheem Keethadth, against a payment of Rs 50,000.
It was further revealed that Keethadth, who currently resides in Bengaluru, provided her the fake visa at the Bengaluru airport. Subsequently, the agent was arrested from Bengaluru by a Delhi Police team and was taken on transit remand to Delhi.
The agent disclosed that the fake Oman visa was given to him by one other women agent named Thabassum. Thereafter a raid was conducted at the given address in Bengaluru, but Thabassum was not found there, so a notice was served to her.
"Tabbasum later joined the investigation and revealed the name of one more agent," the police said.
Given in recognition of a lifetime's work, the Royal Gold Medal is approved personally by the British monarch Queen Elizabeth II and is given to a person or group of people who have had a significant influence on the advancement of architecture. It has been awarded since 1848 and will be presented to Balkrishna Doshi at a special ceremony next year.

Lieutenant Colonel Harjinder Singh who died in the tragic helicopter crash along with the Chief of Defence Staff, General Bipin Rawat and others, had been married to Prafulla from Karnataka. Prafulla is the native of Salmaru village near Karkala town in Udupi district. A pall of gloom descended on the family after the news of the tragedy broke out.
The force said that positive identification of only three mortal remains -- Gen Rawat, Madhulika Rawat and Brig L.S. Lidder -- has been possible as of now, and their mortal remains will be released to the next of kin for final rites as desired by the respective families.
Almost 15 months after the farmers' agitation began against the (now scrapped) farm laws and other issues, the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), an umbrella body of farmer unions that led the protest, said on Thursday that it has suspended the agaitation after receiving positive assurances from the government on their demands, adding that the borders of Delhi will be cleared by Saturday.
India's civil aviation regulator, the DGCA, on Thursday extended the ban on scheduled international commercial flights till January 31.Earlier, India had announced plans to allow resumption of scheduled commercial international passenger services from December 15 with certain conditions.
