Three Kashmiri Youth Held Near Attari Border

IANS, 20 Dec, 2015 01:04 PM
Three Kashmiri youths were taken into custody after they drove a speeding multi-utility vehicle (MUV) close to the international border with Pakistan near Attari on early Sunday, BSF officials said.

The three men -- Umar Bashir, Sajjad Ahmed and Shoaib Nissar -- aged between 21 and 28, were taken into custody by the Border Security Force (BSF) soon after their speeding vehicle, a Toyota Innova, hit a road divider near outer gates of the integrated check post (ICP) at the border, 30 km from here,

All the three, after interrogation by the BSF and intelligence agencies, were handed over to Amritsar district police.

"All three are residents of Srinagar and claimed they lost their way while going from Srinagar to Delhi," BSF deputy inspector general (DIG) told media.

He said the antecedents of the three men were being verified. They were booked for rash driving and disobeying a public servant.

The incident comes just over a month after an allegedly drunk Canada-based NRI drove his Scorpio SUV through the BSF security gates and crashed into the Pakistani gate at the zero line between both countries. The incident happened early on November 16.
