Confusion and choas took place at Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport, Amritsar, when students  who were supposed to board a direct flight to Toronto (Canada) from Amritsar were asked to instead fly from Dubai last night.

The students didn't appreciate the announcement as it would mean additional expenses and adhering to COVID19 protocol during their stay in Dubai.

50 students missed the flight.

Most students had a direct flight to Toronto which was to leave 9:30 pm on Monday. The students alleged that they questioned authorities when they were given Dubai visas.

The airline reportedly offloaded more than 50 students. Around 3.30 am, airport authorities asked the students to leave the airport which angered both parents and students.

The confusion continued til 8:30am when MP from Amritsar Gurjeet Singh Aujla reached the airport during on his return to New Delhi. He met with airport officials  and followed up with statement later on.

Aujla issued a statement that the students became victims of the air ticket fraud being run by agents and asked the police to take appropriate action.

Aujla asked students to be aware of fraudulent scams when booking airplane tickets for outside of India.
