Sri Sri, Ramdev To Attend Chandigarh Yoga Festival

    Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's presence at the second 'International Yoga Day' here on June 21, spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and yoga expert Baba Ramdev will participate in the 'Chandigarh Yoga Festival' from June 9 to 12.
     
    The curtain raiser to the June 21 event will be held at different locations across the city, Chandigarh Deputy Commissioner Ajit Balaji Joshi told the media here on Tuesday.
     
    The inaugural event will be held at the Sector 17 Parade Ground with a public address by Sri Sri, the founder of the 'Art of Living' foundation, on June 9.
     
    A group of skaters from Punjab will demonstrate 'yoga on wheels' on June 11 at the Sukhna Lake road.
     
    The closing ceremony on June 12 at the Parade Ground will feature Ramdev.
     
    Modi is likely to arrive in Chandigarh on June 20 and perform yoga along with thousands of other enthusiasts in the main event at the 'Capitol Complex' in Sector 1 here early on June 21, declared the 'International Yoga Day' by the United Nations.
     
    Enthusiasts will perform yoga at 200 other locations across the City Beautiful on June 21.
     
    Chandigarh is getting a facelift ahead of the prime minister's visit.
