Sisodia urges Punjab not to make assistant professors unemployed

Chandigarh, Nov 24 (IANS) Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Wednesday urged the Punjab government not to make 1,000 guest faculty assistant professors unemployed as they have been handling the education system in government colleges for years.
Sisodia, who was on Punjab visit and met guest faculty professors, termed the attitude of the Congress government towards them "inhuman and unjust".
On the deepening crisis in the education department of Punjab, Sisodia raised questions on the promise of 'Ghar-Ghar Rozgar' of the Congress government. He said this promise will be fulfilled only when the Charanjit Channi-led government would make a one-time settlement of 906 guest faculty assistant professors serving in government colleges on priority without any test-condition on a 'dying cadre' basis.
He said earlier the Shiromani Akali Dal and the Captain government and now the Channi government of the Congress, despite being in power for about 15 years, did not take any care of the guest faculty assistant professors.
Sisodia said the Congress government was snatching even the nominal employment of hundreds and thousands of people, who have been serving temporarily for 15-20 years.
The latest example of this is the guest faculty assistant professors in government colleges. He said if the Channi government does not provide relief to the assistant professors, then the job of all guest faculty assistant professors will be secured on priority on the formation of the AAP government in Punjab.
In a bid to provide financial relief to cotton farm labourers, the Punjab Cabinet on Wednesday approved the policy formulated for extending relief to the families of cotton-picking farm labourers affected by the damage caused to the crop by the pink bollworm disease.
Sharif Chacha's claim to fame is rather unconventional. For years, he has been burying and cremating unclaimed dead bodies in Ayodhya. He has cremated/ buried over 25,000 dead bodies so far.
Among the dignitaries present on the occasion were Vice President N. Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. This year, the list of Padma awards consists of seven Padma Vibhushans, 10 Padma Bhushan, and 102 Padma Shri.
The problems in the Punjab Congress seem to be far from over as the Channi government is being constantly cornered by its own state party chief Navjot Singh Sidhu and the top leadership has failed to evolve a consensus among the warring factions.
The arrested man has been identified as Yudhvir Singh of Jandiala Guru in Amritsar. He was a proclaimed offender and wanted in various NDPS cases. The police also recovered a high-end car from the accused.
In a major decision to regularise the services of nearly 36,000 employees ahead of the Assembly elections, the Punjab Cabinet on Tuesday approved the Punjab Protection and Regularisation of Contractual Employees Bill, 2021 to be introduced in the forthcoming Vidhan Sabha session for enactment.
