Rs. 6.28 Crore Single Day Cash Collection At Balaji Temple In Tirupati

IANS, 27 Jul, 2018 12:08 PM
A record Rs. 6.28 crore single day cash collection was netted on Thursday in the 'hundi' (offering box) of the nearby famous hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara, an official said.

This was the highest cash collection ever made on a single day in the 2000-year old cash-rich hill temple's history, the official said.

The previous high was Rs. 5.73 crore made in April 1, 2012 on the auspicious occasion of 'Ram Navami', he told news agency PTI.

The hill temple, thronged by thousands of devotees throughout the year, normally nets between Rs.2.5 crore to 3.5 crores daily, he said.

The record collection today indicated that a huge offering could have been made by one or two unknown devotees, the official added.
